According to the Associated Press, more graduating high school seniors in the United States are taking a year off before attending college.
The majority of the students delaying their college entrance are from upper middle-class families. They tend to use their year off to pursue personal interests, which in the view of many colleges makes them more mature and better prepared for their undergraduate studies.
