Help will soon be available electronically for Hispanic students who want to start their own business. The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation is putting its Youth Entrepreneurship Program online, using a $250,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation (the philanthropic arm of Verizon Commuications).
The online site, when it is live in 2005, will be an extension of the foundation's Entrepreneurship Program, which holds regional trainng camps called BizFest and teaches participants how to launch their own businesses, establish entrepreneurial and leadership goals, create plans for business and life, become effective leaders and team players, identify investment opportunities, and make public presentations.
More information about the project is available at http://www.ushccfoundation.org/site/en/home/index.asp.
Tip: If you are a Hispanic student and interested in preparing for a business career, there are two books that you might find particularly helpful: How to Pay for Your Degree in Business & Related Fields and Financial Aid for Hispanic Americans. Descriptions of both these resources can be found in Reference Service Press's eStore for undergraduates.
