Michael Moore Plans Scholarship for Students with Moxie

13 Oct 2004

Michael Moore, producer of "Fahrenheit 9/11," has announced his intention to endow a scholarship at California State University, San Marcos. He made the announcement while addressing about 10,000 people at an off-campus meeting, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, after San Marcos campus administrators canceled his scheduled appearance because of his alleged partisan politics. The student government raised more than $40,000 to pay Moore to speak off campus.

Moore's proposed scholarship will award $5,000 per year to the student who "stands up the most to the administration of Cal State San Marcos." Why he was establishing the scholarship? Moore explained: "I hope to encourage students in the future to do the true American thing and stand up for what they believe in."

Tip:  Even if you don't attend Cal State San Marcos or aren't the student who "stands up the most to the administration," there are still billions of dollars in financial aid available to you.
