The 1997/8 Reference Service Press Fellowship winner, Janet Tom first worked as a publicist for filmmakers and performing arts groups. Subsequently, she launched Office to Order, to help creative people and small entrepreneurs organize their offices. For her contributions to the San Francisco/Bay Area arts community, she was presented with the "Woman Warrior" and the "Si Se Puede" awards.
Tom has always been interested in information and, after concluding she could "educate the most people in a library setting," she enrolled in library school at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1997.
