2002/2003 Reference Service Press Fellowship Winner
Colleen Robledo discovered she had a "calling" for the library profession in 1998, when she returned to school after an extended absence to complete her undergraduate degree in History at California State University, Fullerton. She soon realized that what she enjoyed most about historical research was the search and retrieval process. As a result, she decided that after earning her undergraduate degree she would prepare for a career in librarianship, which she saw as combining her love of research, passion for computer technologies, and desire to be involved in public service.
Colleen is now working on a master's in library and information science at San Jose State University's southern California campus (Fullerton). She serves on the board of directors for the school's student chapter of the American Library Association and works full time in the corporate sector. Although she has not yet decided on her exact library career path, she is certain that she will be heavily involved in reference work.
