Sueyoung Park, the first winner of the Reference Service Press Fellowship, graduated from UC Santa Cruz with honors in History. She has been a volunteer for the Coalition for Nicaragua, Women's Crisis Center, Friends Outside/Jail Visitations Program, the Art Museum of Santa Cruz County and the University Library at UC Santa Cruz. Employed as a student and later working as a staff member in the Conservation Unit she also served on the Library's Exhibit Committee, Affirmative Action Committee, Cultural Diversity Task Force and the reference desk as an aide to librarians.

Sueyoung is committed to library service and recognizes the importance of reference librarians at all levels of the education process. Presently, she is continuing her education at Simmons College (Boston), in the LIS graduate program.
