Lynn Denise Lampert's interest in librarianship and books started with her early exposure to her local public library. Before she could read, her mother and sister took her to the local branch library to hear storytelling programs and to selected books. Her father used to drive the family to a huge used bookstore not far from their home, so Lynn and her sister could search for books.
Those week-end family "research excursions" fostered Lynn's fascination with research and antiquarian books. This passion grew even stronger while she was completing her senior honors thesis in college. By the time she graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, she realized that a career as a research librarian would allow her to combine her love for research and books.
Using the Reference Service Press Fellowship, Lynn will begin her first year of graduate school at UCLA, working jointly on a master's degree in library science and one in history. She expects to complete both degrees within three years.
