2005/2006 Reference Service Press Fellowship Winner
Marie Blackard is the recipient of the 2005/6 Reference Service Press Fellowship. Marie has a B.A. in English from the University of Chicago, has an M.F.A. in Writing from the University of San Francisco, and is currently enrolled in the library program at San Jose State University.
Between the University of Chicago and the University of San Francisco, Marie has nearly eight years of library experience, including library assistant assignments in inter-library loan, circulation, and reserves. Rewarding library experiences led her to web-based documentation, the creation of online resources, and the pursuit of librarianship as a profession. As she wrote in her application essay, "having worked with a variety of librarians, and having worked closely with Reference Librarians for several years, I am eager to begin the formal study of Library and Information Science to fulfill my goal of becoming a professional Reference Librarian."
