2009/2010 Reference Service Press
Fellowship Winner
While an undergraduate, Nick Velkavrh began working in a library, first as a student assistant for Occidental College's Electronic Resources Librarian and later as a reference assistant and special projects intern in a program funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. After receiving his bachelor's degree, Nick was hired as a post-baccalaureate fellow at Occidental College, a position also funded by the Mellon Foundation.
Because of these experiences, Nick discovered his passion: connecting people to information. He enrolled in San Jose State University's master's of library and information program this year, to help his achieve his goal of "enabling and enfranchising individuals so they can utilize and access information of all sorts in productive ways."
